I missed the NSFAS 2027 deadline. What now?
Apply to your university’s financial aid office, look at foundation and SETA bursaries in the finder above, and check whether your institution runs a late or appeals process. Recent NSFAS cycles have opened in September, so diarise September 2027 for the next window.
Is NSFAS a loan or a bursary?
For qualifying students at public universities and TVET colleges, NSFAS operates as a bursary that you do not repay, provided you meet its academic and administrative conditions.
Can I hold NSFAS and another bursary?
Usually not for the same costs. Many corporate bursaries replace NSFAS funding entirely. Declare all funding to both providers.
Do corporate bursaries require me to work for them?
Most do. Expect a work-back period of roughly one year per year funded. Read the contract before signing.
