Questions

The things students actually ask.

Still stuck? Ask OPLE AI, our assistant, or contact our team.

What APS do I need for university?
It depends on the programme and the institution. As a guide, many diplomas start around 22–26, most general degrees sit around 30–35, and competitive programmes such as medicine, actuarial science and engineering at research universities often need 36 or more, plus subject minimums. Use the APS calculator for your exact options.
Is Life Orientation counted in my APS?
Usually not. Most universities exclude Life Orientation; a few count it at reduced weight. Our calculator excludes it by default and says when a university treats it differently.
When do NSFAS applications open for 2028?
The 2027 cycle ran from 18 September to 31 October 2026. Recent cycles have opened in September, so plan for September 2027 and confirm on the official NSFAS website. Meanwhile, look at university aid and bursaries.
Is the career assessment really free?
Yes. The assessment, APS calculator, Maths Lab and CV builder are free for individual students. Schools and organisations can license class dashboards and reporting.
Where does your university data come from?
From university prospectuses, faculty pages and public ranking releases, reviewed by our editors. Figures such as APS and fees change every year, so each profile tells you to confirm with the institution before you apply.
Do you store my personal information?
Your marks, CV drafts and saved items stay in your own browser unless you create an account. We process personal information in line with POPIA. Read our privacy notice.
